Quarter 3 dues

Please remember to pay your 3rd quarter dues on or before March 20th to avoid a late penalty.  Scrip/grocery card users:  we are aware that you are waiting for your credit totals before you are able to pay.   The dues coupon can be found on the Forms & Policies page.

Official, Limited Edition BAC State Team Shirt

Is your swimmer going to the 12 & Under or 13 & Over Michigan Swimming State Championships?  If so, you still have time to order an official BAC State Team Shirt!  You can check out all the details on the BAC Gear webpage.  Orders will be accepted through March 4th.  (You can order a t-shirt via email through March 7th if your swimmer achieves their first state cut at the JO meet.)

JO Meet Psych Sheet

The psych sheet for the JO meet has been posted.  Go to the Meet Info & Entry page to view it.  Please check it for accuracy and contact Qun Liu, Meet Entry Chair at BACMeetEntry@BulldogAquaticClub.com, if you have any questions or corrections.

13 & Over State Meet Gear offered by JAWS

Nancy Lohman, mom to two BAC state swimmers, has offered to "handle" the 13 & Over State gear orders offered by JAWS.  You can get a copy of the order form here.  Orders must be turned in by Thursday, March 4th.  If your swimmer earns a state cut at the JO meet please follow the directions on the order form.

Practice update

Dues Coupon (Mar - May)

Please remember that the 3rd quarter dues are to be paid by March 1st.  The dues coupon is now available on the Forms & Policies webpage.

Chuck Bezzina, BAC Vice President, will be sending out a team-wide email in the next few days about a new and exciting opportunity for BAC swimmers.  The email will be sent from BACVP5@aol.com so make sure you check your spam/trash box if you don't see the email in you inbox soon.

An email with these cancellations was sent out earlier today.  If you did NOT receive the email from BACPresident@BulldogAquaticclub.com please email Charisse (at that address) so you can be added to the BAC bulk email list.

Important Message about On-line Entries   

Please verify ALL of your swimmer's entries on the psych sheet.  It has been discovered that there is a "glitch" causing some entries not to be downloaded.  Until this problem has been identified and fixed it is EXTREMELY important that you check they psych sheet as soon as it is posted.  Please email Qun at BACMeetEntry@BullDogAquaticClub.com if your swimmer is missing or has missing events.  If you MISS the "check" period we may not be able to get your swimmer entered into the meet.  So please, CHECK the Psych Sheets!

BAC State T-shirts

Check the BAC Gear webpage for details about the Short Course T-shirts.  These are the official BAC shirts available to the families & swimmers who have qualified to swim at a state meet AND will be attending the state meet.  These shirts are available to swimmers going to the 12 & Under OR 13 & Over Michigan Swimming State Championship swim meets.

JO Gear - offered by KAW

Volunteer needed!  BAC needs to designate a team rep to collect any BAC orders, place the order with KAW, pick-up the items at the JO meet and distribute them to BAC members.  The order needs to go to KAW on Monday, February 15th!  So volunteer tonight!  Email Charisse at BACPresident@BulldogAquaticClub.com  If there is no volunteer BAC will not place any pre-meet orders. 

JO Entry Date Clarification

The "first" entry deadline for the JO meet is Feb. 19th.  KAW - the JO host team - has requested that teams provide an initial entry file.  We will accept entries for the JO meet after the SMAC meet AND after the District Meet.  But, please do not wait to enter your swimmer in the JO meet if you KNOW there are certain events they will swim at that meet. 

12 & Under State Championship Gear - offered by BBA

Volunteer needed!  BAC needs to designate a team rep to collect any BAC orders, place the order with BBA, pick-up the items at the State Meet and distribute them to BAC members.  If you are willing to volunteer for this short-term position please email Charisse at BACPresident@BulldogAquaticClub.com  If there is no volunteer BAC will not place any pre-meet orders.

State Qualifying Times - Verification   

If you plan to use a time your swimmer achieved from a school swim meet to qualify for a state meet please email Qun at BACMeetEntry@BulldogAquaticClub.com You need to provide a copy of the hard copy of the results or a link to the results.  Include the event(s) and time(s) that you plan on using from the meet.   Please do not wait until the last minute as Qun then has to provide the proof to Michigan Swimming.

Congratulations Holiday Break Point "winners"

Our holiday break "Bulldog Tough" swimmers who EARNED a pizza party and special edition t-shirt were:  Evelyn Stein, Jacque Carless, Kera Sells, Savannah Hatt, Ethan Bezzina, Jimmy Xue, Rachel Brown, Kaylee Dolinski, and Maddie Gorman. 

These swimmers attended doubles, practiced hard, were on-time, stayed for the entire practice as well as showing other "good practice habits" to earn enough points to be the Holiday Break winners.  Congratulations again!

Please check out the practice page for all the details!  The Senior Dogs & Bulldogs will return to Northville HS for practices.  Junior Dogs, Underdogs, Puppies and Swim School will remain at Hillside as scheduled.

BAC Winterfest Results

Read all about it!  Once again our "Bulldog Tough" swimmers swam events for the first time, achieved personal bests and of course got new championship cuts.  Make sure you congratulate Kera Sells on her 5 BAC record breaking swims!  Click here to see the write-up.

Junior Athlete Representative Elections - Nominations Needed

One new athlete representative is elected each year to serve an approximate two-year term on the MS Board of Directors. The newly-elected swimmer becomes the Junior Athlete Representative and the currently serving Junior Athlete Representative [beginning his/her second year on the Board of Directors] automatically becomes the Senior Athlete Representative.  This election takes place at the annual 13 and Over SCY State Championships (March of each year).  If you are interested in being nominated for the Junior Athlete Representative position please read the details here.  Nominations should be emailed to Charisse Nilles at BACPresident@BulldogAquaticClub.com by March 10th so she can send them to the nominating committee.

Hotel Rooms for 13 & O State Meet

Thank you to Nancy Lohman for reserving rooms at the Country Inn and Suites for the State Meet.  If you and your swimmer(s) are planning to attend this meet you should call and reserve in YOUR name one of the rooms.  It is usually very hard to find a room at the last minute so don't delay.

• Address is 3251 Deposit Dr SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546, 616-942-7000.   
• It is 15-18 minutes from the Jenison High School where the state meet is held. 
• Room block is under Bulldog Aquatic Club. 10 rooms will be held until 2/18/10 at a reduced rate of $93.99.  After 2/18, you can still get the reduced rate if any rooms are still available.
• Room has 2 queen beds and includes breakfast.  Some refrigerators are available upon request.  There is also a suite with 2 queen beds available at the reduced rate of $129.99 if you request the Bulldog Aquatic Club room block.

BAC Winterfest

Thank you to all of our BAC families for helping put on a great swim meet.  We had many compliments including comments on our "happy and friendly attitudes", a smoothly run meet, and some great food in concessions and hospitality.  If you have any comments or recommendations for next year's Winterfest please send an email to WinterfestMeetDir@BulldogAquaticClub.com or BACPresident@BulldogAquaticclub.com

Thank you to all the chairs and co-chairs that worked extra hard to make sure all of the areas of the meet were covered and ran smoothly.  Special thanks to two former BAC members who RETURNED to help with the meet - Herman Kellahan, Volunteer Chair, and Dave Wagner, Meet Entry/Computer Room!  

Missing Cooler

Did you accidentally take a cooler from the Winterfest meet that didn't belong to you?  We are looking for a blue cooler on wheels with the name Bruen on it.  If you have it please contact Charisse at BACPresident@BulldogAquaticClub.com so arrangements can be made to return it to the Bruen family.

Fire-up Party

Don't forget to check the Social page to get all of the details for the upcoming Championship Fire-up party at Merri-Bowl Lanes in Livonia.  ALL swimmers, regardless of age or swim group are invited to attend this event.  Parents can attend and bowl too!  Please RSVP for the party by January 29th so Sally can make sure we have enough lanes reserved for our group.

Parent Social

Check the Social page for information about the Parent Social.  Don't forget to mark your calendar!  This is a very fun, annual event.  It is great to see other parents at a non-swim event without swimmers in tow.  Plan on it!

Practice updates

There are some additional changes to the Senior Dogs/Bulldogs practice times and location.  Please check the Practice Schedule page for all of the details.  Swim School, Puppies, Advanced Puppies, Under Dogs and Junior Dogs have practice as scheduled.

Meet Entries

Championship meets will start to be posted soon.  Please make sure you enter on-time as the District, JO, State and Sectional Meets do NOT allow late entries.  Your swimmer has been training HARD for these end of the season meets so make sure you enter on-time.

Attention Michigan Swimming Athletes:
The Michigan Swimming Zone Team would like your input!  We want you to help us design the next Zone Team uniforms.  Please submit your drawings, ideas, sketches,... whatever you are thinking to Coach Mike Cutler before March 15th.  We will select the design that most represents Michigan Swimming for this year's Zone Team going to Kenosha, Wisconsin.  Be creative!!!  These can be sent to Coach Cutler via e-mail at CoachMCutler@Riptide.org, or mail them to him at 7982 Gator Trail, Rockford, MI  49341.  We must have these in by then so that we can get the designs produced.  We will not accept them after March 15th.  The person who creates the chosen design will receive one complimentary uniform for their contributions.

BAC Winterfest

Exciting news!  Our meet is very close to full!  Please remember to treat our guests with a smile on your face and a warm welcome!

Please remind your swimmers that the hospitality room, located just off of the pool deck, is for coaches and officials only.  Remember to bring cash for you and your swimmer to buy food & beverages from BAC's own concessions.  From Coffee Beanery Coffee to ice cold Absopure water and hot dogs to Subway sandwiches there will be plenty to choose from.   There will also be sweet treats and other great food to choose from.  All BAC volunteers are welcome to purchase food & beverages from the concession area located in the pool lobby. 

Dig out your BAC gear and show your team spirit!   And finally - don't forget to enjoy yourself this weekend at the meet!

OLY Michigan Open

The entry deadline for the OLY Michigan Open has been extended through Friday, January 15th, 7:00 pm.  Remember to check the time standards before entering this meet.  Please check the Meet Info & Entry page for all the details.  Please remember to use your account on Direct Athletics to enter this meet.  If you cannot logon to Direct Athletics please send an entry email to Qun Liu at BACMeetEntry@BulldogAquaticClub.com as we did in the past.

CW Winter Waterfest

CW Winter Waterfest from the CW Meet Entry Chair

The morning start time for our upcoming meet has changed.  Morning warm up will begin at 8:30am with the events beginning at 9:30am.  The times for the afternoon sessions are unchanged and remained as outlined in the meet packet. 

Additionally, we will run the meet using 6 lanes for the sessions on Saturday and Sunday.  This change was made to allow swimmer adequate time between their races.  The Friday night session will still run with 8 lanes.

LOLL Guppy Bowl  

Attention parents of swimmers age 8 and under:  the Guppy Bowl is just for you!  This is a one session meet set up for the youngest swimmers only!  No worry about the big kids on deck since this meet is limited to ages 8 & under.  Please go to Direct Athletics to sign up your swimmer.  Remember you need to use the username and password sent to you in an email from Direct Athletics to sign-up for this meet.  Entries are due by Jan. 11th.  Check out all the meet details at the Meet Info & Entry Page.

Lifeguard Training

Is your swimmer (ages 15+) interested in lifeguarding?  If yes, try to take advantage of the classes held in March at Hillside.  You can see the flyer here.
